A Blue Badge helps people with disabilities or health conditions to park closer to their destination
This makes it easier to get out and about and access shops, appointments, activities and other services.
In Witterings and the surrounding are, you may be eligible if you have significant difficulty walking, cannot walk without considerable difficulty, or have a non-visible condition that causes severe difficulties with journeys between your vehicle and your destination. Some people qualify automatically because they receive certain disability benefits , while others will need to have their application assessed by West Sussex County Council.
You may qualify automatically if, for example, you receive the appropriate rate of PIP mobility, receive the higher rate mobility component of DLA, are registered severely sight impaired (blind), or meet certain Armed Forces-related criteria. Attendance Allowance does not automatically qualify you for a Blue Badge, although you can still apply and have your circumstances assessed.
People with non-visible disabilities may also qualify. This can include conditions that cause a significant risk near traffic, severe difficulty planning or following a journey, or overwhelming psychological distress when travelling.
